Road Manners

I find myself driving quite a few miles around the Twin Cities area. Every time I’m on the road I notice there are very courteous drivers and some rude drivers. This got me thinking, what is the difference between these people? What kind of driver are you? One day I was coming to a four way stop and two of us arrived at almost the exact same time. I know the rule is the driver to the right has the right of way but sometimes it is just hard to judge exactly who was first especially if there are pedestrians around the area. In this situation the other driver and I looked each other in the eye and they made a motion for me to go ahead. I then smiled and waved and they smiled and waved back. I thought to myself, what a kind person. Other situations I find some drivers quickly run up to the four way stop and quickly dart through the intersection. Wouldn’t it be nice if everyone was patient, courteous, and friendly on the road? I bet if more people waved and smiled like the person did the other day to me we could all have a little less stress and just enjoy our daily commute. I know I’m going to try and make more of a point to be like that driver I met in the intersection that gave me the wave.
